Talking About AI & Tech progress. Making Predictions (28 February 2023 Update) 

Man I guess I will have to do updates like this every other week now, at least once a month. I mean things are progressing incredibly fast now. February is almost over here in India. And it's really crazy , 2023 so far already made 2022 look like a sleepy year.

This morning I woke up with the news that Elon Musk is recruiting Top ML engineers and is going to start a new AI research lab to compete with OpenAI. This is what I wanted for real, I was literally wishing for it to happen weeks ago. My twitter feed is proof. If I have to guess, he may announce it officially with the company name on 1 March 2023 which is Tesla's Investor Day. Or maybe later. But it is great. 

Xiaomi showed their new AR glasses prototype, things are improving in the VR/AR field too. It is just that it needs a lot of improvement to be mass adopted and manufactured. 

I have hope that Apple's VR/AR glasses showcase later this year will inspire a lot of tech companies to work on it too. And AI will help people and developers build content for it easily. 

Bing or Sydney was lobotomized but now they are slowly improving it, bringing her personality back. I still didn't receive the update yet. 6 messages per session is still annoying. Who knows in a few weeks there will be no restrictions at all. Just a few hours ago they implemented Bing AI into Windows 11 taskbar. That's sick. 

Now lets talk about the future and make some Predictions because that's my favourite thing. To look at the past and see how things progressed. 

- February was mind blowing, easily beating all months of 2022. I have never seen AI progress like this before. I am expecting March to do even better, as in more powerful releases and updates. More mind blowing papers and news that I can't even think of. Will it happen? We will find out after 1 month. 

- GPT-4 release? Or a variant of it at least. Like currently I and many other people think the earlier version of Sydney was actually GPT-4 scaled down and optimized for search. Will OpenAI finally release GPT-4?

- Elon Musk announcing his new AI research lab officially. Hoping it is open sourced.

- I am expecting progress on the robotics side too. Not what I have seen so far but something that is like a breakthrough. Something that changes everything. I don't know when this will happen but hopefully soon.

- Google is busy sleeping, announcing things and releasing papers and never actually releasing products that the general public can use. Hoping this changes soon. Hoping some Generative AI release from Google.

- And of course I am expecting another breakthrough in the AI field. Something that accelerates progress even more faster. March hopefully?

- Hoping someone dares to release an open source AI model with all the code and stuff. It could be a text to image model, video model, or a Chatbot. Open source changes everything and accelerates progress. Hoping this to happen in March.

- Brain Computer Interfaces are hot. Maybe we see another breakthrough in that too. This year not picking any month.

- TikTok added two new filters that became controversial on twitter. First one was an Age filter that made old people look like teenagers. A lot of people posted it, feeling sad because well they aren't teen (young) anymore. Another one is a beauty filter but it is so realistic. Like something me or anyone haven't seen before. It is uncanny. It uses AI and covers the entire face, and it doesn't matter if you hide half of your face or nose or ears. It will still be there unlike usual filters on Instagram or Snapchat. It is basically an advanced SOTA generative AI technology. It's crazy millions of people who use TikTok can simply use it now. The prediction here is that TikTok will add more mind blowing filters and other features like this. Maybe they will do a realtime video to video filter too. Like a filter that will transform you and everything in background into anime style, or a renaissance painting. Expecting more crazy additions by TikTok and pretty sure Snapchat and Instagram will start doing it too. 

- More Chatbots obviously, more apps and new startups incorporating chatbots. This is going to be the new normal. It's crazy ChatGPT started it all and only 2.5 to 3 months have passed since its release. 

Overall I just want March 2023 & Beyond to be more progressive than January & February 2023. Things need to accelerate more and more.

It is going to be so fun looking at this at the end of March and in future. I am wondering about all the things that are going to happen in March & Beyond and I don't even know about them yet. Wow.
