Talking about my feelings towards recent progress of AI by Stable Diffusion

It has been again, a while since i last updated. i am gonna write everything in lower caps because it is kinda hard to type in a normal way on my new chromebook lol. no caps button sadly and i am used to it. so it has been over 20 days i guess since i became a part of stable diffusion beta, and then beta got over and shortly after the stable diffusion text-to-image ai was released to the public along with the weights. it is incredible to think that only less than a month has passed, it feels like ages sometimes. super thanks to reddit, that's how i got to know about stable diffusion. the picture below is created by stable diffusion btw. by me.

and quickly i followed its owner emad on twitter, turned notifications on because i didn't want to miss the beta phase 1 registration. and so i did and soon i had some of the best moments of my life. i love openai for what they are doing, even if they aren't so open anymore. i never got access to dall-e 2 even after registering with 3 accounts and waiting over 3 months. but stable diffusion gave me the chance to dive in into the world of generative ai. i used midjourney a while ago but it was free trial with 25 credits.

the discord beta phase was so good, i used to spend hours everyday creating amazing art of the things i like, ranging from cyberpunk to anime girls because why not? it was an incredible experience i will never forget. and soon when it got over, i felt sad.

i felt sad because it was over and i thought it is gonna take a long time when it gets free to use. i was stupid lmao, i knew it was opensource but i didn't know exactly how it worked. now i am aware of 3-4 free stable diffusion websites, dozens of google colab notebooks, github, stable diffusion prompt search engines and much more.

it is like i leveled up from a noob and gained some experience. feels great. now i use google colab notebooks to generate amazing art. i batch up to 100 images, leave it and watch star wars (i am on a marathon right now). currently on the book of boba fett.

now, now i feel like i live in the future. now it feels like my dreams are really coming true. i was right about life changing after covid-19, i thought it was becoming worse. but now so many things changed inside me in 2022 and i am really happy. i mean the ability to make your imaginations come into reality, to see things you could have never imagined, so fast. i can't describe this feeling in a proper way honestly.

stable diffusion isn't the only open source model being made by emad/stability. there are so many other great models in the way. apparently there is gonna be a music generation ai next month which is september. soon we will be able to make 3d models, animations, videos and much more through ai. all open source. emad is my next elon musk for what he is doing.

and of course there are millions of people hating on ai now. i witnessed it a lot, i mean people called my art trash because i mentioned it was created by ai. people are literally hating it so much and it is so hilarious. they are so unaware of what is about to come. but it is okay, they can't understand it. ai is only coming to make our life much better, they will soon know.

people are saying that ai is stealing art from millions of people. that it is plagiarism. i mean isn't it what humans do? you don't just get to know how to draw an apple without seeing one. you can't draw iron man without seeing iron man. this is exactly how ai learns. but whatever.

there is one thing for sure, people will hate and fear whatever they can't really comprehend, people always hate change right and if there is something new.

apart from stable diffusion, there has been new progress almost everyday as i update it on bookmarks. i haven't used gpt-3 in a while, i may start using it too.

may-august has been crazy for me, 4 months only. i wonder what next 4 months will be like. there will be new ai models, more opensource ones. and next year? i can't comprehend it.
